St. Louis

Hello! We spent last weekend in St. Louis and had a great time! The main purpose of the trip was a soccer tournament, but we managed to squeeze in a lot of fun in the short time we were there. We caught a Cubs game and of course visited the Arch, but the highlight of the trip was the City Museum.

Have you been there? It is amazing! It really is such a unique place that I fear my description won't do it justice. It is creative and inspiring and just plain fun. There are slides, tunnels, caves, tree houses, castles, airplanes, and more incorporated into an old warehouse with so much character and beauty. Truly incredible! A perfect example of beauty and function co-existing.
August is not a fan of sports despite having three brothers who live and breathe athletics. Fortunately, a pad of paper and pencil are very portable. He drew in the car(thankfully, he didn't inherit my motion sickness), in the hotel, and on the soccer field.

He started so many drawings this weekend! It is unlikely he will re-visit any of these drawings, but it is all a part of the learning process, I suppose. When asked why he stops one drawing and starts another, he said he wasn't happy how it looked and starting over was easier than erasing. I think I need to make sure we have erasers handy so we can save some trees! I'll be back to show you some of his sketches as soon as I photograph them (hopefully tomorrow.) Goodbye for now!
